Devilled Eggs
It seems Devil's Eggs have become "trendy" again. This is the second restaurant we've noticed that's featured them recently.
Today we had brunch at Firestone's to celebrate Tom's birthday. He thought it would just be the two of us and looked horrified when the hostess said "ah yes, a reservation for a table for 4". I'm not sure what nemesis couple he thought I'd invited, but he looked very relieved when the daughter and one of her friends showed up!
We had a lovely lunch. Live jazz in the background. We shared these devilled eggs, (L to R bacon, crab and caviar), then I had a blue cheese burger and Tom had steak and eggs. (I would have liked that too, but ordering fried eggs over here is such drama. I mean a fried egg is is a fried egg, isn't it? Apparently not, it's sunny side up, straight up, over easy, et al). A nice cappuccino finished us off.
Went antiqueing after. OK we didn't. We just had a good laugh at some of the things that were posing as antiques!!!
All in all a good lunch out, and we will definitely give Firestones a whirl again for dinner.
