Glorious Milkweeds

Working on a large yard installation in Sarasota and getting all of the big trees planted to begin the transformation, but we also got sidetracked by some glorious milkweeds for around one of the trees. These are the larval food for the monarch butterfly and they are so bright and cheerful. You have to plant a lot of them if you want to have any left for viewing. Several yard pictures of the trees planted (gumbo limbo, slash pine, sabal palms, firebush, wax myrtle, bay rum, and allspice) were nice but just didn't have the pow-wow of the milkweed! I love taking a barebones yard and turning it in a personal garden statement for clients. This client loves butterflies, so we are mostly planting for them, but wild-life benefits too with the Native plantings. We are planning a scented garden for the front yard, and that will make it to a future blip, I am sure!
