Misty Oaks

It has been a pleasantly relaxing day today. My brother Rick is here, and we decided to go for a walk in the Laguna this morning. Although here on Wildwood Trail it was sunny and free of fog, the fog descended as we drove down the hill into town, or I suppose we descended into the fog. The bare branches of the oak trees scattered through the laguna stood out in dark relief against the hear, and the dogs, who don't notice such things as cold or lack of visibility were enjoying themselves. The bufflehead ducks bobbed in the marshy pond, and a lone wood duck showed off his beautiful plumage . Geese, calling out their coordinates flew overhead.

After a stop at the Sebastopol Farmers' Market for some greens, we went home to fire up the barbecue for our brisket for dinner.  I've been catching up on a handmade skirt I have been working on since we moved here, while an endless stream of "important (football) games" play in the background.

A visit to the St Francis winery a couple of miles down the road gave us a pleasant break in the afternoon. Having Rick here is wonderful with the added advantage that he is a great chef! He and OilMan have been hovering around the barbecue and smoker all day tending their brisket.

This evening we will host Dana and Jim, the boys and the dogs, Blake and Rudy for dinner, accompanied by the wine we purchased at St Francis...
