Just trying on hats

We let time happen,
Wandering without a plan,
Just trying on hats.

......
.....
A rather lovely day (no thanks to National rail!).  Went up to London ans met up with my daughter Tash .  After lunch and wine, we went to see the Grayson Perry display at the NPG  ... which was rather  wonderful  and better than expected.  It was inspiring to see such a talented and unique artist exploring ideas of identity with intelligence and sensitivity.  I was particularly touched by one exhibit called Memory Jar, about how Alzheimers not only robs the individual of their memories but also destroys shared memories ("Close couples are custodians of each others experiences")  ... he depicted the disease as a demon cutting up family snaps ... this picture of it was going to be my blip, but on balance  I  preferred the one of Tash.

After the exhibition we met with my friend Taurie who had had a hellish journey getting into London from Sussex, so we felt cocktails were called for and headed to Wahaca near Covent Garden for various varieties of Margeurita .... accompanied by snacks.

When we came out of there it was dark and the lights were on ... I love London at this time of day. We had no particular plan or agenda and just wandered around Covent Garden and Neal Street looking at stuff, chatting  and ... well .... trying on hats ....

Eventually Taurie and I had to head for home ... we were trying to get back to Haywards Heath where Taurie had left her car.  First we tried Blackfriars station, but there didn't seem to be any trains or any information.   There was no-one about to ask except a lady half-hearted sweeping the empty concourse ....

So, back on the tube to Victoria ..... to discover that the only way to get to Haywards Heath ... was to get a train to Three Bridges and then, those dread words, Replacement Bus Service (RBS).

There was nothing for it.  The RBS proved to be a coach with a very fed up driver (who had probably been transporting disgruntled rail passengers all day), and who livened up proceedings by giving us  a hair raising ride through country lanes (where I'm sure coaches aren't meant to be) ... finally we reached our destination.... Phew!
