Fishin'

It was pouring with rain and blowing a hoolie when we left home this morning to walk into town as is our want these Saturday mornings. All togged up in waterproof trousers and anoraks. Within 5 minutes the rain had ceased, the sun had come out and we felt hot.

The wind was still gusting and must have caused some disconsernation to these fisher folk on the banks of the lake in Mote Park. They must have been there throughout the earlier monsoon. I wonder if they caught anything.

The result of the walk into town was ultimately for a coffee at Pop's which we have to confess was not quite as nice as it usually is. Oh and we bought a new pastry brush - all of 50p.

By then it was time to rush home for a hurried lunch before I went off to watch a referee who was officiating a match involving a side I played much rugby for between 1970 and 1990s. Yes, I did recognise one of the players and one of the supporters on the touchline. A very pleasant, if cold afternoon as, although the sun was out, there was a piercing northwesterly wind cutting across the pitch.
