Moved some of my stuff to storage today.
Everyone's been so nice and helpful. It's times like these when you realize how many good people are out there.
The cats and I are staying with Nate until I find a new place. Everything I own smells like smoke and soot. I hope the insurance company insuring the building will cover all the cleaning expenses. They also should cover everything that was damaged by the fire.
The rear apartment on my floor, which is just beyond the door in this picture, is 100% charred and destroyed. Since it's on the top floor, I cannot imagine what kind of shape all the apartments on first, second, and third floors are in. I hope the building's foundation is still strong.
