European Goldfinch

This evening we collected the Blue Mountain branch of the family from the airport. It has been a very long day for them; up early to get to the airport and then they lose two hours in the travel to NZ. A very straightforward drive north to the beach house, and then a simple meal of ciabatta, lasagna, and salad. And wine. Kids in bed and hopefully going to sleep.

I mucked up the planned photo for blip; all set to take a photo of them walking out from the biosecurity checks into the arrivals area. Then distracted by activity near to me, and looked up to see that they were already through and being happy. Rushed by the grandchildren; it was more important to cuddle them than take a photo. And I was in the wrong position when they greeted S.

So today's photo is another bird. From outside the terminal as we walked towards it. I saw the flash of colour. Grabbed my camera, with the wrong lens on it for birds, and took a couple of photos. This wee bird is beside an ordinary sized kerb, and I have also not cropped out the cigarette butt as it shows the size of the bird.
