Kingsgate, Winchester
A 14th century town gate in Winchester's medieval wall, one of the two medieval gates still existing. The two side entrances, for pedestrians, were added in the 18th century.
Spot the church....
The section of town wall above the gate houses the tiny church of Saint-Swithun-upon Kingsgate. It is in Early English style (12th century) and predates the gate below. The windows are part of the church.
