Water Lanes

This is just around the corner from the house I lived in as a child and the Water Lanes is where I spent a lot of my childhood. Before it gets here the stream passes under the road I lived in and that was where we played Pooh Sticks. Not really an option for the kids of today because there's too much traffic to be able to run across the road to see the sticks emerge.

This part of the Water Lanes is fairly short, maybe twice as long as you can see here but there must have been a hundred different jumps from one side to the other and I knew them all. Some were easy; others the sort where if you weren't very careful you ended up in the water. I've lost count of the number of times I had to walk home soaked through...
