Loweswater

Had something to do in Cockermouth today so combined it with a walk at Loweswater with Misty.  Its been a lovely day today after yesterday, but not looking forward to tomorrow as its yet more rain and gales!

Talking of rain its been 10 years today since Carlisle got flooded when two months worth of rain fell overnight and nearly 2000 homes got flooded including Carlisle football ground and the City fire station as well as lots of other businesses.  It was very interesting watching it on the local news earlier showing how it was then.  It was awful seeing all the places that I now know quite well being under so much water.  £38m was spent afterwards on a flood defence system which has since been tested three times by extreme weather!!
