My Maternal Great Grandmother (Elizabeth Field nee Wilkins) married a Ruben Mutimer in 1882 in Suffolk; Ruben died 2 years later but not after they had Laura in 1883 (Suffolk) and William (Bill) in 1885 (Eastbourne). Two years later in 1887 she married by Great Grandfather Walter Field; in Eastbourne.

My Grandmother Rose Field married Bert(rum) Downey in 1924, she was 23 and he was 28. By all accounts, although Bill was 10 years older than Bert they were close friends. Going through some old photographs I came across this photo. Bill is the one with the pipe on the left and Bert is the dapper gent on the right. The car, my mother thinks was Bill's pride and joy.

No idea of the date but there are no shields over the headlights so must be some time before 1939. By the looks of the two cars my guess is may be 1930/1931. Who knows, but wonderful to have found out a little bit of background to a family photograph.
