Derelict Thursday: The Queen Elizabeth
I spotted this on Sunday, when Vinnie and I were out for a walk. I hadn't been in that area for years, since my daughters were learning to swim and dive at the nearby pool, so I didn't know this neighbourhood pub had closed. Today when I went back to shoot it, I talked to a couple of people who told me it's been closed for years. Apparently at one point it was going to be converted into flats, but that didn't happen.
I thought the pub signs - you can see them here and here - gave a good impression of its dereliction. In the end, though, I preferred this wide angle shot, with the strong sunlight (unexpected, after a dark and rainy start to the day!) streaming from the right.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank SarumStroller, who started this challenge and has run it with great enthusiasm and dedication. Thanks Tim - with this and all your other Blip activities, you're an inspiration to us all! Today, he hands the reins to Himself.
