Redwing

On my way back from my walk this lunchtime a type of bird I had never seen before landed on a tree right next to me.

Of course, by the time I had gotten my camera out, found him in the tree again and zoomed in, he had flown away (lesson here is to keep the camera out until I get back to the car)

Luckily I had seen where he had landed and was able to sneak closer. Unfortunately not really close enough for the zoom lens on my small Nikon S3600 (which is all I had with me).

However, with a tight crop and a bit of sharpening in ViewNX2, I was able to get a good enough shot to be able to identify it as a Redwing.
