With a little help from my wing

A pair of Dunnocks were investigating the branches of the bush for insects and this one was struggling to hold onto the near vertical branch so resorted to flapping his wing to keep his balance.

Into Saffron Walden today, attended a meeting and then had lunch at a regular venue of ours – the Cross Keys Hotel, a Grade II listed building dating back some 650 years.

The Dunnock’s common name means “little brown one”, and is an ancient name, deriving from the language of the Celtic Britons.
