During the last month, trout that live in this part of the river have laid their eggs in these gravel beds, where they were then immediately fertilised then buried.
During March, depending on the water temperature, they should hatch and they then spread out where they bury themselves back in the gravel and for the next three weeks they absorb their egg sac. After that they emerge, at about an inch long and they are quite capable of fending for themselves and live on live prey and at first plankton.
In the spring there is nothing better than sitting on the river bank watching these beauties gliding through the runs in the weed beds.
