Holy Island
aka Lindisfarne. Today we went across the causeway to this beautiful island. It was quite a bleak day but eventually the sun came out and the whole place was transformed. There was a very fitting memorial to lost soldiers of the First World War that looked over the sea and over the castle. As I looked out I noticed a church a short distance away and saw that there was a funeral being held. The sun fell on the congregation who were surrounding the grave as it was coffin was being lowered. It was a very sad but quite beautiful moment. It's especially poignant to me as my mum is dying and is probably on her final weeks on this earth. It's so sad to see her suffering so much and it's taking a lot of strength just to stay alive. Cancer really is evil.
