Not flooded yet - but the water is rising

If there is a lot of rain or snow in the midlands this floodplain, between two rivers, is allowed to flood and this road, the A1101, closes for several weeks. At this time last year it was already flooded so we are lucky so far! To get from this point to the village (three quarters of a mile away) - the school, the pub, the church - when the road is flooded involves a detour of 24 miles!
