Expect the Unexpected

The sun came out to play this afternoon and I went out to see what I could do in the garden. We'd had lots of rain so I didn't want to stand in my borders so I set to work with my border fork and worked mainly on weeding at the front of the shrub borders. Ch eventually joined me and after I pointed out some things which need to be dug out and we discussed them fully and intensively, he wandered off saying he had some 'investigating' to do. I carried on weeding for a while then went to investigate CH. Found him in the area designated for the Japanese garden up to his welly tops in water. Looks like he's found some sort of underground well or perhaps just an old land drain. I helped him for a while digging lovely old stone flags out of the water, then went back to weeding and watering in the greenhouse. Meanwhile CH is getting very enthusiastic about water features.
