Christmas Carols at Flookburgh
We rose early on Christmas morning and drove to Grange-over-sands for nine o'clock mass in the lovely church there, then back to the lodge for a cooked breakfast, before heading to Flookburgh to catch the brass band's traditional annual performance of carols in the square. It had been a morning of frost, watery sun, hail and a smattering of snow but just before the band began the sun came out, the brollies were put away and the numbers swelled till the space was full. The best bit was the rendition of Jingle Bells at the very end when all the children joined in with chimes, bells and tambourines. magical!
