Morning sun

The morning after a strange evening.

Granny is very old (96) and is in a hospice because she is dying. Yesterday evening came the news that she might die very soon (she is in a coma).
E. and I were celebrating the new year with her family and in the evening after dinner we raced to the hospice to be with my mother who was there alone at the time.
We watched her taking slow breaths. And waited a long time. Eventually we went home because E. had to work this morning.

Strange thing is, she is still alive. Still breathing the same way (though, still not responding at all). My mother and my aunt are with her all day now and will be staying until she passes away.

How wonderful is to have met someone who was born in 1918 (same year as Mandela). She has outlived a lot of wars, a lot of technological advancements, a lot of brothers and sisters and other family.
I have a lot of fine memories of her and I will keep them safe in my mind.

I hope she isn't suffering too much.
