Which colour to choose

The Christmas decorations have been put away and the electrician comes this week to do some work on the lights in my study and in one other room.   The painter comes next week:  so the issue is what colour should the feature walls in my study be painted.   At present I think it will be terra cotta or a purple-ish red.
