You are looking at the site of The New Star pub, latterly The Woodsman, that was the subject of an arson attack in 2001 and which the Coventry Evening Telegraph campaigned to have demolished. Demolition eventually came in early 2005. Trouble is that the council had let the site to a pub chain on a 99 year lease, so that by when the pub was demolished there was still 50 plus years left to run.

Here are the fruits of the campaign 10 years later.

In other news, the pics I shot on Friday 2 January and loaded up to my brand new 2Tb external hard drive have gone walkabout. As has everything I stored there. Hence the hole in yesterday. I hope to fill the gap if ever something turns up.
