Christmas Bird Count
The Audubon society sponsors and leads Christmas Bird Counts (CBC) from mid-December through the end of the year. The purpose is to count the number of birds seen or heard by species and location every year.
I joined the group counting birds at the Reserve at Rancho Mission Viejo. The bird above is an Acorn Woodpecker. It was one of 40 species we identified and one of 561 that we counted.
