York MInister
Back in York today to do a bit more family research. Decided that over the year I am going to do a study of the minster in photographs.
Todays is taken from Stonegate where I was stood to the side of a jewellers and silversmith shop. This shop is part of my maternal grandfathers family dating from the late 18th century. Sadly the brother we are descended from became a farmer and not a silversmiths apprentice like his brothers, and then came into York from sheriff Hutton village. Once in York they lived in the slums of Hungate while their cousins became famous in York for their jewellery etc and own silver hallmark, one even became the lord mayor of York! Typical wrong brother for me!
