Theft, then drinks.
In all my years of being a therapist, I've never had anyone steal anything from a therapy room. Fourteen years later, it happened. It wasn't a significant theft. This woman just decided to take some aromatherapy essential oils as parting gifts. One of small bottles belonged to my business partner, which made me feel embarrassed and guilty when I had to explain it to said partner after the day was over. We both couldn't believe this even happened. It just goes to show you after years of doing what we do, it never occurred to us to that our belongings in the room(s) we work in were vulnerable. Also, there is a small closet with a door in the room where purses and other private belonging are kept, luckily nothing from there was missing.
I keep telling myself it could have been a lot worse. For instance, my hidden purse was untouched. The VERY expensive oils were left behind. The thief was only in town for the weekend. I'll probably never have to deal with her again (she was another client's mother).
But it still all sucks.
My husband took me out to dinner tonight. After our first round of drinks, I lightened-up and was thankful to get this first-and-only-time over and done with.
Cheers to happier days in 2015.
