Etchings
The weather forecast looked miserable for today, but this being the weekend before the real return to normality we decided to head into Liverpool for a change.
Hope Street is one of my favourite streets anywhere. The two magnificent cathedrals face each other at either end, the Everman Theatre has re-opened (Little Red Riding Hood currently showing), the Phil has been refurbished (with an addition under construction at the back), and the Philharmonic pub is one of Liverpool's best. We had lunch at the London Carriage Works - as usual, really good.
This view is from the Philharmonic Hall's 1st floor bar. The art deco interior is just wonderful, with loads of details which I just love, including lots of etchings in the glass. We hadn't booked for the afternoon performance, which was sold out in any event - Disney's Fatasia, with the RLPO providing the live soundtrack.
