Ennui

Yes, a flower blip just for a change!
But not just any old flower blip. No, a proper old flower blip. Strictly speaking these flowers have served their time, and today their purpose, and will be consigned to the bucket just as soon as I can be bothered lifting them out of the new Polish pottery jug and mopping up the water drips in the process.

You see I am suffering what might be politely called seasonal ennui, finding it difficult to motivate myself into resuming ordinary life, just content to sit and stare into space unless prodded into action.

It seems part of the outside world is in the same state- some shops still shut after New Year and families on holiday making the most of today's sunshine.
His Lordship and I had a cold walk to Bruntsfield to buy some birthday cards and have a warming coffee.
I have just posted the 7th family birthday card in a fortnight. That must surely be something of a record.

Now if I you'll excuse me, I'm going to resume sitting and watching the shadows lengthen as the sun creeps round to the west and sets on this the 10th day of Christmas.

There are no ' Lords a-Leaping' in this neck of the woods, not even the home grown one, and certainly no Ladies Dancing either for that matter. We might not even have a Partridge in a Pear Tree, but we have answers from a Joe Tree at 6 0'clock. Till then.........
