"HE IS ALL OF THEM AND HE IS ONE OF US"

The dome in the photograph is made out of mosaic and beneath it lies the tomb of the unknown soldier at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. It carries the inscription "HE IS ALL OF THEM AND HE IS ONE OF US".

Co-incidental to my visit to Canberra, I discovered 2 weeks ago that I had a previously unknown cousin who was Doctor on the Australian Hospital ship Centaur and who perished in 1943 when the ship was torpedoed by a Japanese Submarine off Brisbane.

I was therefore able to place a poppy against his name on one of the many plaques at the Memorial here in Canberra today.
