For the family

Who's got the biggest mouth?

We still have 6 babies who are progressing well. I managed to capture all six beaks open at the same time this morning but the quality of the blip was even poorer than this one!! I thought that I had a blip before 8.30 am!! A first, until I viewed it on the computer.

Mum & Dad are sharing the feeding duties, how they know whose turn it is to be fed next, I just don't know. The babies have started cheeping today for the first time, so will soon be competing to hear who can shout the loudest for attention.

They mostly lie in a heap and periodically wriggle about. They breathe in unison, about 80 respirations per minute.

Although they are probably about 2 weeks old, they are "toilet" trained. Those Blippers with small children or can remember the delights of toilet training the little darlings....will be most impressed. When Mum or Dad fly in to provide food, several mouths open and on occasions a bottom will be raised and the parent will collect a little poo sack (not the plastic variety) and take it out of the nest box. Not sure if accidents occur at times, but Mum periodically has a good old scrabble about, shuffles the little souls to one end of the box, and does a tidy up!!
