Gone bush
Felt like a complete change today so we went to a local reserve 20 minutes drive away and wandered through the bush. We were met by a fantail too quick to catch. Saw a beetle on a beech tree and wasps drinking the honeydew.
The NZ bush presents problems for photographers often being very dark. Then you can suddenly enter a patch of bright sun and the light conditions are just the opposite.
Dappled light, flashes of light, all add to the mix.
The other problem is how to show perspective and and also what to make a point of interest.
Solve all those problems and you can enjoy your walk in the bush. After you have tripped over a tree root, fallen down a bank, puffed up a hill you can view mosses, tree bark, ferns, listen to the bird song. But don't get lost.
