An Afternoon Flight Over The West End

So, Polaroid Blipfoto, eh?

I have to say I was a bit taken aback when I went online earlier and saw the colourful new additions, firstly thinking it was a “Lovers of Light” style project.

Alas not.

It does explain the recent facelift: you'd want to look good for your wedding, right? As for the profile images in Polaroid style frames - I guess that should be a glaringly obvious clue!

No business wants to rest on its laurels, but with such a large corporate name now involved I question what it actually means and what the future may hold - you just need to look at whose name now comes first…!

There really is something special about this site that has set it apart from others.

I first started using Blipfoto more than 3 ½ years ago - I’ve posted something every single day since then. I’ve never before engaged in  something with the same level of discipline and routine.

I’ve also always enjoyed the “international” community aspect too – photos  from Germany, Australia, Finland, Croatia, or just along the road to name but a few – the wealth and variety of images here is inspiring. Being part of Blipfoto has helped renew my passion for photography.

Change isn’t necessarily a bad thing but because I feel I "belong" here I view it with just a pinch of scepticism and not through Polaroid tinted spectacles…

I just hope that what lies at the heart of this site – the simple concept, the real sense of community - will remain.

For now, anyway, I’ll still take my daily “Blip”.
