King Penguins

It was probably the worst day for weather of the whole trip, the day we visited Volunteer Point, one of the highlights of the trip. We made the three hour 4x4 drive to the largest King Penguin colony on the islands. There was plenty of activity, but alas the light was fairly grim, as was the biting northerly wind. This did not lend itself to many photos, but I did manage a few close-ups of the chicks moulting and transforming themselves into sleek swimming machines.
