Our exciting new chapter...

Happy New Year. 

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s played a part in the Blipfoto story so far. We’re really excited to be sharing the start of the next amazing chapter with you.

As you now know, today we announced an exciting new partnership with Polaroid that will allow us to take the one-a-day photo journal to a much wider audience.

We know that you will have lots of questions, so tomorrow (3rd January) Blipfoto Founder Joe Tree will host a live Q&A to answer your questions on the partnership from 6pm - 7pm GMT.  You will be able to take part in this Q&A here: blipfoto.com/JoeAnswers 

Polaroid is one of the most iconic names in the world of photography - one we all grew up with. It’s conceived some ingenious technology, but it’s always been fun, accessible and incredibly easy to use.

The original Polaroid technology was always about individual, precious photographs. You weren’t forced to take 24 or 36 images before seeing them, you could take just one picture, and share it straight away. When you took a Polaroid you’d almost always show or give it to someone else; that was the joy – it was the original photo sharing network.

Polaroid has delighted professionals, artists and amateurs alike; it’s a real leveller. All these things have always been inherent to the Blipfoto experience too. In an age where we take more pictures than we ever have before, we encourage people to pick out the most precious ones and put them somewhere safe. That gives them much more meaning now, and in the future.

After a great deal of discussion it was apparent that we were both aiming for similar goals, with many parallels in what we stand for. Joining forces means we can achieve these aims more successfully than we ever could individually.

So now, with Polaroid standing beside us, we are a huge step closer to our goal of being the place where the world tells its story.

We’ve always worked extremely hard to nurture the community that has grown around the simple idea of taking and sharing just one photo a day. This partnership will allow us to concentrate even harder on this. The vibrant, supportive and respectful community that has blossomed over the past few years is one that we are so incredibly proud of. We will continue to ensure that the community comes first.
