Perspectives of 2015...

I saw this installation today and was stunned. I had never thought about the fact that a human makes an amazing impact when they are gone, sometimes more than when they are here. Chiharu Shiota collects shoes to represent the memories of lost individuals and past memories...This particular installation had notes connected with each shoe and we were able to read the translations from Japanese. I was particularly interested in a dress shoe with a red heel. The shoes were given to a woman by her husband. She didn't like the style and color and only wore them once, but she didn't get rid of them because they had been a gift. I thought that was really profound...How many times do we just throw things out? To purchase something new or more fashionable? Maybe we didn't like the color or even the gift itself. Taking a different look and having a different perspective can make a big impact on how you feel about something.
Give your gift another chance, it may say something about you when you are no longer here.
