A Crane was exciting the twitchers that came by the Udale bird hide today. Supposedly it had been there for several days, and despite its large size it was difficult to spot. It kept its distance. Was surprised by the number of folk in the hide, as normally it's fairly quiet. But the twitching contingent seemingly spread the news far and wide rapidly these days. Had I known about it, I'd have kept away! Plenty of the usual ducks, waders, etc. Plus a hunting Osprey passed by in the distance .
Took various snaps of rigs and hills with mega telephoto on this camera - 300mm f/4 lens with 1.4x teleconverter. On reflection, it worked well, though I'd doubts at the time. Still wasn't enough magnification for a clear shot of the Crane. So the above shot is heavily cropped.
