First the freeze, then a very unseasonal thaw.
The beautiful cold weather of Christmas disappeared in the last few days of 2014 and was replaced with warmer weather, in fact with temperatures above freezing! This is not good news as the roads become very icy and the snow turns slushy.
And so it was on the first morning of 2015. This picture of the frozen sea near Söråker shows the few moments of sun reflected of the water that is sitting on top of the ice.
It's a bit weird that +4°C, damp and soggy, feels so very much colder than -15°C, dry and crisp. But the next few days we'll have to put up with this strange warm weather, and perhaps it was a fitting end to 2014, the warmest year in Sweden since records began.
