I DID IT!!!!!!!

What a fabulously freezing start to the day! I did the New Year's Day Open Water Swim at Salford Quays this morning. 

I was very sensible last night at Carole's and only had a couple of drinks...there was no way I was going to face the freezing water with a hangover that was for sure.

I had struggled to breathe in the cold water last year, but it was a degree warmer this year...6 degrees...and was positively tropical compared! I had been rather nervous but when Sian, Chrissie, Jude and fellow blippers, NLN and IWC, came to cheer me on it was a case of cold? what cold? ha ha ha.

I lost feeling in my hands and feet very quickly and so didn't feel the icy water, but wow....the feeling of exhilaration is still with me. 

We all went for a hot drink to warm up afterwards...what a wonderful bunch of friends....thanks for coming along people. And thanks to Chrissie who took this pic for me....

Now I need to book the next swim!!!
