Basking dragonfly

Beautiful sunny day with some warmth left in the sun. I sat by the small pond to eat my lunch and was surprised to see several dragonflies flitting around, including one of the large blue/green ones. This one landed on some of the fallen leaves to bask in the sun. I watched as a magpie stalked it, getting closer to the dragonfly and almost in pecking distance. Thankfully the dragonfly was active enough to avoid becoming the magpie's lunch.
