Hogmanay birds

I’m not sure what kind of birds these are but they led the parade of hundreds of people to the accompaniment of a samba band.    Children proudly held the lanterns that they had made earlier as they all followed the birds to watch a spectacular firework display at Musselburgh this evening.  Over 20 minutes of fireworks exploded in a starry sky with a backdrop of the twinkling lights of Kirkcaldy and Burntisland across the Forth.   Later most of the children would be tucked up in bed when nearby Edinburgh’s firework display would herald in 2015.  A happy New Year!
