In with the New!
I realised that I hadn't blipped a snowy landscape since we had our heavy snowfall on Boxing Day night, so I walked up the road - not too far as the wind was bitter, despite warmer temperatures, to get this shot before it disappears altogether. The forecast for tomorrow is for temperatures in double figures and heavy rain, so I suspect today was my last chance. I did take this one 2 days ago over the other side of the hill - we've not had significant snow since March 2013, so this little episode stopped 2014 being a snow-free year.
So, here we are at the end of another year. Where did it go? Well, thanks to Blip, I can look back and see.
Highlights:
Edinburgh in February, including meeting blippers Meles, DaveH and Lali
The Longshaw Fungus Survey, which we hope contributed to Network Rail's decision to abandon plans to put a loop through this special place.
My Bus Pass adventures - travelling in the course of one day using my pass firstly to Berwick-on-Tweed, then to Lowestoft
The Tour de France passing our house - never thought I'd say it but it was great fun.
East Anglia - 2 trips to Norfolk and one to Suffolk
My River Don journey - it didn't get started until June, and is still ongoing, but it will be completed!
Our newly designed garden with visitors including badger, fox, hedgehog, great spotted woodpecker and dragonfly, to name a few
Summer mornings watching brown hares, snipe, cuckoos, red grouse, ring ouzels and tree pipits just after dawn, and evenings watching nightjars and woodcock.
Autumn full of fabulous fungi
... to name a few.
Who knows what 2015 will bring? Perhaps a bit more travel? More fungi, birds and other wildlife treats to be discovered? Bring it on!
To my fellow Blippers, thank you so much for all your kind words and friendship through another year - and your patience with my intermittent commenting! If you are having problems with the new site, keep the faith, I feel sure it will continue to get better.
I hope 2015 brings you all you wish for, and more!
Happy New Year x
