Day 2

5years 70days

Yesterday was a day with loads crammed in. And somehow we managed to do the same today! We said goodbye to the Pinks and got our train into London. We got on the tube but were told it was cancelled three stops before we wanted, so we found ourselves at the wrong end of Oxford Street. We had a high speed walk down, stopping to say hello to sparkle, one of her favourite paddingtons from yesterday. We got to Marble Arch, where she danced under the arch in the morning sun for a while before we went to Hyde Park. We were going to the Winter Wonderland there to visit the Magic Ice Kingdom. We found our friend and braced ourselves for the -8 temperatures that are standard in the palace. It was incredible. Gorgeous Christmas Trees everywhere and huge ice sculptures. A rapunzel tower, unicorns, dragons, fairies. We had photos on the Ice Thrones. Katie and I climbed the ice palaces walls to queue for the ice slide. I totally expected to be drenched when I got off but wasnt at all! She posed in the Ice mirror. We had a drink from the Ice Bar. The George & the Dragon was incredible, as was the round table with the sword from the stone. She was enthralled by it all, even in the sub-zero temperatures. That said, she was delighted to have a hot doughnut when we had left!

After leaving the wonderland, we resumed our Paddington hunting in Hyde Park. Our trail took us to Knightsbridge next. Our trail has taken us to the Mclaren showroom and the Rolls Royce, Bentley, Ferrari and Porsche showrooms! From Harrods we did Buckingham Palace and St James' Park, Christies, New Bond Street, Selfridges, the Photographers' Gallery, the Royal Academy of the Arts. We took a tube to Paddington Station to find the Paddington by Michael Bond. We also found the Paddington bench from the storybook trail and the original Paddington bronze statue. We then did the mini trail round the canals. Katie said her favourite of the day was the very last Paddington we found, so this is what I have blipped!  A union flag-decorated bear with a collection of quotes that stood beneath a beautiful huge Christmas tree. We ended the day on a tube to Kings Cross with a Starbucks to enjoy on the train.

We have covered miles, found another 14 official paddingtons and 2 unofficial paddingtons, 3 royal parks, 3 royal residences. We truly have seen some amazing sights of London.

She was asleep 15minutes into our train journey home, snuggled up in her jammies after a picnic tea. She cried because we were leaving London.
