going Japanese

Up slightly early today but not much - +1/3 and +2/3 are well into their holiday routine now and not waking up until after 8am. Going back to school next week is going to be a shock all round!

+1/2 and I went into Islington today so that I could go and order my new commuting bike - for the first time ever I'm actually eligible for the bike to work scheme and as my commuting bike is near death it seems like an awfully good way to get a new bike (BTW, some bits of the bike are still quite good so if anyone is interested in a pair of hand built wheels, dynamo front hub and specialized 9-spd freehub rear, Mavic rims, double butted spokes then let me know).

Off to Mosquito Bikes on Essex Road for a chat about the bike I'd been thinking of and general mooch. What a great shop, properly old-school with some beautiful bikes and frames. Even better, as they actually understand bikes I also asked them to rebuild the front wheel on the new bike to have a dynamo hub - no problem.

After the bike shop excitement it was time for a wander up Upper Street where we found a nice Japanese place for lunch. I seem to have gained a smidgen of respect from +1/3 as he discovered just how tricky chopsticks can be.

Home, cycle back to the bike shop to have my fitting done (another first), dinner, bed, From Russia With Love.

More from today starting here. And just look at the ISO on this - 12800 - and it's not a horrible mess!

Music for today: a bit old school again with some Shed Seven (watching the video is a wormhole to the 90s...) and Living Colour thanks to the bike shop.
