Family get together!

Another family tradition dating back to my childhood.
Boxing Day was always celebrated at my parents house, their reasoning was that as we left home and had families of our own we would want to spend Christmas Day with them.
Despite losing my parents, and many of us working in the health service or retail where Christmas holidays are not an option we have tried to maintain the tradition, taking it in turns to host. This does mean that it has become a movable feast held on the most convenient date to suit as many of us as possible, this year that was today!
Hosting has also evolved from always being at mums to alternating between our homes (myself and my sisters) and these last couple of years it has moved onto the next generation with my daughter last year and my niece this year taking on the challenge.
For me it was a shortened visit between two night shifts, so it was good that I wasn't responsible for any of the prep or clearing up!

This blip is my two nieces and my daughter with their children, I wonder if these little ones will take over one day?
