Divide

When we got back to Nottingham the snow was still very much in evidence - here it is on my neighbours' roof. The, ahem, 'divide' between the image and the music continues to grow but I'm sure I can still subject you all one day soon to Tom and me doing our best impressions of Messrs Williamson and Fearns...

#3 ‘Divide and Exit’ by Sleaford Mods

Though I was moaning about 2014’s lack of punk spirit the other day, I am of course more than happy to make an exception for the Sleaford Mods. The duo describe themselves, memorably, as “electronic munt minimalist punk-hop rants for the working class and under from Nottingham, UK” and one man venting his foul-mouthed spleen over a rudimentary pounding beat (he doesn’t sing, speak or rap exactly but it’s clearly not just talking – apparently there’s a German word for it but I’ve forgotten what it is just now, try Google, you c**t…!) is never going to be everyone’s cup of tea (I was a little dismissive myself initially) but the sheer energy of this album is pretty much irresistible if you give it a chance – see them live and they’re virtually unstoppable…!
