Stepping stones

Beautiful day in the Dales today, sunny, cold with a bit of haze.

These stones are at the beginning of the walk up to Coldstone Cut where the quarry workings have been in use since Roman times. The quarry looks like a giant crater with uniform steps all round, it is awesome  it must be hundreds of feet deep, can only imagine how they managed to get the stone out without modern machinery!
