Winter green

Took a post-Christmas walk along the lane at the back of the village after taking my son to catch his train back to London. It was a beautiful crisp day with blue skies and frost still around. The house has been a hive of activity over the past few days and it was lovely seeing the family and my young grandchildren enjoying Christmas. It all seems very quiet now that they too have returned to London with their parents. I spotted this old gate and fence post on the walk and the scene seemed to sum up the starkness of winter.
