Mary Mackillop
This Rose was named after the only Australian to become a Saint. They put forward their nominations and after decades of research and debate in the church, she was finally named a Saint at the Vatican a few years ago, much to the delight of the Roman Catholics from here. Her name is now Saint Mary of the Cross. This rose stands about 25 cm high but it will grow. I have had a similar one in a previous garden and it used to be covered by flowers, small, shapely and a bit like a camellia I used to think. This is only just getting some new growth and I am pleased to see some buds.
Tonight the family is getting the final packing done before heading off in the morning. They have all their possessions in one case plus a carry on bag and two small back packs. Total of about 30kg for a family of four for a year. Aunty Ade would be proud of their efforts ( family joke).
