Having a splendid time.
The chalet is wonderful - all mod cons including a chalet maid, chef, and two waiters (one for the wine). H's family told me to make myself feel at home, but it's not quite like sunny Leith. I don't recall ever noticing a sommelier when we were eating our TV dinners.
The snow is perfect for skiing, though I can't say I've done much of that. It's so much harder than I expected - my muscles ache in places I never knew I had places. My instructor said I lacked both ability and enthusiasm, but he thought my co-ordination had potential. I reckoned two out of three wasn't bad, but H says he was probably talking about my après-ski wear.
His family are being really sweet about it - his mum says it's hard to learn to ski as an adult, and what on earth were my parents thinking of not teaching me when I was younger?
I was a teeny bit concerned you might turn up at the chalet brandishing a box of your homemade muffins. Well done for resisting - and I'm sure the ducks appreciated your efforts.
I just want you to know I've had absolutely the very best Christmas ever.
