Church Village of Vijlen
Vijlen is a small village with over 1500 inhabitants (base year 2005) in South Limburg, belonging to the Dutch municipality of Vaals. Vijlen is about 200 meters above sea level and is the highest church village in the Netherlands. That does not mean that it also has the highest church tower in the Netherlands. The myth that the Church of Vijlen is the highest, is already a very long time, that's why it has done altitude to negate this. Both the St. Martin in the Vijlen and Paul Church in Vaals measured by the former Government Geological Survey. The church in Vijlen is at an elevation of 195.62 meters above sea level, and Paul's church in Vaals is 215.17 meters above sea level. Paul Church in Vaals is therefore higher than the church in Files, but its location in the village of Vaals this church is not as visible as the Church of Vijlen.
