More splendid knitting
I watched the Downton Christmas special last night and really enjoyed it.
This morning, I got a Fb friends request from a second cousin who I do not know and have never met but have spoken to once before on the phone. He lives in the Norfolk area and knows someone else I know. It's a small world. Not sure if I want to 'friend' him.
I delivered the intercessions in church, though there were very few people there today and my blip is of the fabulous Holy Family, knitted by a 90 year old member of the congregation several years back. It travels round the village during Advent staying with a different family each night and ends up in the crib in Church on a Christmas Eve. A lovely idea.
I met with C and N in Costa for a hour's chat before they headed up to York. We had a discussion about family dynamics and sibling rivalries in both families, investments and pensions. They thought I was the glue that holds our family together. I can see why they'd say that though I'm not sure I see it that way and want to think some more about it. Quite heavy stuff for the holidays but it was great to spend a little more time with them both.
I then went to buy a new mattress (having researched them online in front of the telly last night!) and came home with two new pillows and a new mattress is being delivered in a month's time. Can't wait :)
As my sniffle seems to have returned today, I decided not to seek out anyone else but came home and went to bed with the telly for a few hours. Then I changed all the beds and have got up to have some food and chill out til the family returns. They've been to see West Ham v Arsenal in London today as at least one of the boys is soccer mad so I'm sure they'll have had a cracking day, especially as it's been beautiful blue skies all the way today.
I'll be having another day at home tomorrow I think to try to shift the cold.
